I’m sure that you’ve uttered the words “I wish I was a millionaire” to yourself many times? If I give you a dollar each time either of us hears that phrase again, then you would definitely become a very rich person quickly!

When you were a kid, you might have wished for a million after watching a film. Or you might have said it in anger when your parents told you that you couldn’t do or have something because “we can’t afford it”. Somehow, you’d already concluded that having loads of money would be awesome.

As an adult, those words might come into your mind when you are in a state of frustration, desperation or just wanting to resolve a financial situation. Maybe you are being underpaid relative to what you are worth. Maybe decent housing is always out of your budget. Maybe your car broke down and you know that walking to work in the rain sucks.

Regardless of age or what is happening in your life, the world is constantly bombarding us with images of what we are missing out on if we don’t have lots of money. No problems – you can get as many credit cards and loans as you want. That allows you to “shop till you drop”. No need to save up and wait patiently. Instant gratification is here.

We often wish to be millionaires or simply rich when we see other people, their cars, their houses, their clothes and their lifestyle. This is especially true when we get sucked into the world of celebrities.

Some of us start comparing ourselves to others and convince ourselves that excess money will somehow make our lives better. After all everybody you see on daytime television or in the newspapers have better lives than us, don’t they?

That is true to some extent. There is no doubt that money can change your life. It can also ruin your life if you can’t handle it. Think about how many lottery winners lose every $ they won on their ‘lucky’ day and at the same time lose their friends, family and their sanity. They probably curse the millionaire word whenever they hear it.

This is what happens when we do not understand money. We wish for more money without having the means to handle it. If you can’t handle a large amount of money, then its only going to flow to somebody else who can. The money will literally be burning a hole in your pocket – you’ll want to spend it for sure

I guarantee you are subconsciously thinking about a new car or bigger house or outrageous holiday as you are reading this.

May I  suggest that you don’t want to become a millionaire just for the sake of it.

Only wish for a 7 digit bank balance when you know what responsible thing to do with it.

Does somebody you know need to think about this? Share it with them if you care about them.
